  • My article on “The Transition to Adulthood in Individualistic and Collectivistic Cultures: Prevalence and Timing of Premarital Cohabitation and First Marriage in Germany and China” in Contemporary Perspectives in Family Research is now published.
  • Recently my book was reviewed positively by socialnet (in German).
  • A collaborative article with Philipp M. Lersch in the Journal of Marriage and Family has just been accepted! We investigate if living in different forms of partnerships, i.e. cohabitation, marriage, affect capital accumulation.
  • My paper on patterns of cohabitation and first marriage in Europe has just been published!
  • I have been visiting researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Erasmus University Rotterdam from February until April 2017 and have been collaborating with Professor Pearl Dykstra’s research group.
  • I have just been nominated as a Life Course Center Fellow at the Life Course Centre at the University of Queensland/Australia.
  • Does the pluralization of partnership statuses change educational opportunities of children? My book review discussing current research on this topic is out (in German).
  • Recently, my interview with the German magazine “EMMA” was published. I am explaining how the effect of social policy measures in Germany is moderated by regional social norms. A must read for social policy makers!
  • My article covering a sequence analysis of recent birth cohorts in Germany was accepted by “Demographic Research”. I am examining how the diversity in longitudinal partnership trajectories between ages 15 and 35 is related to individual characteristics and regional living conditions.
  • At the third ISA Forum of Sociology  in Vienna I presented my findings on rural-urban migration in China and Germany and its effect on the likelihood of entering a premarital cohabitation.
  • I just received the dissertation prize of the Roman Herzog Institute e.V., based in Munich. Here you can see videos and read texts covering my research (in German).
  • My new book was just released! It covers regional differences in fertility rates and how they relate to regional cultural differences in Germany. My article on this topic can be found here.

  • My joint article with Sebastian Kohl on “Homeownership, public housing and political consequences in Germany: Pooled cross-sectional evidence from a low-homeownership country, 1980-2014” is currently under review at Housing, Theory and Society
